trains boy nursery ideas baby roomSomething about the great rumble of a train passing by with its sharp, loud whistle makes me happy. Maybe because it reminds me of my childhood, or maybe because these remnants of yesterday’s great engineering feats have a timeless and consistent quality, but either way I find this a fitting focus for a nursery.  And besides, what little boy doesn’t like trains?

sock monkey baby shower free downloadsI’m throwing a baby shower with some friends this weekend, and the mama-to-be plans to use monkeys throughout the nursery, so I created a little sock monkey illustration to use for some of the shower decor.  I thought it might be fun to share with all of you, so in the margin you will find some fun treats.  There is a “sips & sweets” poster, an “it’s a girl” or “it’s a boy” poster, and small little cards that you can print, fold, and label with the names of the dishes you will be serving.  Note you can choose pink or blue for each item, and there are two different poster sizes available – a larger size you can print online somewhere (such as uprinting) or an 8.5″ x 11″ size you can print at home.  The size in inches is included in the name of the download.  (Please play nice, and don’t reprint/use for profit!)

**Updated 11/11 with neutral/green versions of each!

woodland neutral baby room ideasThis board features an eclectic mix of animals with a warm, neutral palette.  No, a rhino doesn’t belong in the woods, but I think he adds just the right whimsical charm to the room.  Those little stuffed guys (the fox and the squirrels) are too cute, but note they will take awhile as they are in high demand right now!  The “I Am a Bunny” book is from my childhood; my mother recently pulled it out for Vivi to read, and she loves it!  The illustrations are so sweet, and are many are frame-worthy themselves!

(Please note the links are in the pink margin to the right of the post!  The feature is working again, so if you are new to the site, that is where they can be found, rather than below the style board.)

surfer boy nursery ideas

Christine asked for a surfer room for their little one (they live in San Diego) with a boy version and a girl version.  Here is the slightly more masculine version – stay posted for the girl room next!  I think those retro hanging candle holders would make a really neat mobile (sans candles for the nursery).  They look super shiny, with interesting shapes!  I also love that little surfer pillow.  Vivi would love it, too – she has fallen in love with the baby on the Pampers box a few times, so I’m sure this little guy would be a favorite.  Babies love babies.
