henry's nursery details

boy nursery ideasI just wanted to post a few of the details from Henry's nursery, as I have gotten emails about a few things.  All of the artwork (except the two really large pieces) are displayed in vintage frames.  This is one of my favorite things to do, and a great way to create an interesting gallery wall.    Go to a vintage/thrift shop, and purchase old art (that is usually very un-interesting) in lovely old frames on the super cheap, and then print photos or make/buy artwork that will fit.  It's great because you can get a very custom look for a very small fraction of the price for custom framing.  The curtains also have a blackout liner to make the room dark and cozy, which are so helpful to get little ones to sleep!  (Ashley found that fabric from Forsyth Fabrics in Atlanta.  I think she bought out all they had, but you can certainly call them about it if you are interested!)  The dresser turned changing table was purchased at an estate sale for the amazing price of $100.  Don't underestimate what you can find!  It's amazing how much you can save on a dresser if you just keep looking in the right places.  That's one place where you can save a considerable amount.  You should make your own changing pad tray, too, if you want one.   No reason to spend more on the tray than on the dresser!  The vintage arrows are affixed with washi tape, which means they can easily be removed/repositioned and you don't have to add any bulky hardware to hang them.  The bedding is actually from Vivi's crib, but you can find similar crib skirts here (I love the simple and clean look of pleated pique!) and here are some great crib sheets.  Lastly, the walls are Mindful Gray by Sherwin Williams.  It is a bit darker in person, but it also depends on the time of day and the amount of light in the room.  As always, be sure to get a swatch or sample and test it out.  Every room is so different!  The lighter shade of repose gray is also really nice.
