Since May 4th, Star Wars day, is around the corner, I wanted to repost the Little Padawan nursery board. It’s one of my favorites, and I updated it a little with currently available items. Stay tuned for a girl version to be posted tomorrow!

(First of all, congratulations to Gwendolyn, who won the Small Talk Studio giveaway! Be sure to check out Alyssa’s awesome work if you haven’t.)
This board is a re-visit of one I did quite awhile back, but I keep getting requests for it! Love that vintage looking propeller and the super shiny pendant light. These would also be fun to hang over a changing table or crib to keep baby’s attention.
I keep getting emails from some of you who are struggling to compromise with daddies who insist on certain themes, so here is my take on a happy solution for a Star Wars nursery (or toddler room!). It has just the right amount of humor but limits the cheese. This room is great for a girl or boy room, and would even look fantastic on – dare I say it? – a light pink. A fun project would be fun to find vintage Star Wars fabric or sheets to make floor pillows.
By far the most frequently visited style board on Lay Baby Lay is the Steve McQueen vintage. Considering some of the links are now out of date, I thought it was time to revisit it (I know, two car boards in one week!). If you want something less dramatic, a light blue or aqua paint color would look great as well. I love that Great Escape poster – sort of reminds me of vintage G.I. Joe.
Something about the great rumble of a train passing by with its sharp, loud whistle makes me happy. Maybe because it reminds me of my childhood, or maybe because these remnants of yesterday’s great engineering feats have a timeless and consistent quality, but either way I find this a fitting focus for a nursery. And besides, what little boy doesn’t like trains?
