Cathryn (check out her fab blog here) emailed asking for recommendations as she transitions her little one to a toddler room.  She sent me a picture of the lumberjack plaid pillow from etsy, and said they are also using a Hudson Bay blanket for inspiration.  Above are my suggestions, including a large chalkboard and a fuzzy faux sheepskin rug for a cuddly play space, as well as a wooden chest to store little boy treasures.
