a christmas tradition: sleepover under the tree
The Christmas tree lights and decorations are always so magical, and I've often thought about how fun it would be to have a little sleepover under the tree with the girls when they are big enough.

So, this year, we made it happen, thanks so some magical sweetness from The Land of Nod (see more inspiration here on their blog!) . We did this the day after Thanksgiving, to kick off the Christmas season, and we decided to make it into a family game night, complete with some fun treats. The girls didn't actually spend the night under the tree, as I was 37 weeks pregnant and we all needed good rest, but I look forward to them actually sleeping there when they are a little bigger. Regardless, they found the game playing in the sleeping bags to be quite an adventure!
After setting up the pink tree with those delicious brightly colored ornaments (that don't break!!), I set out some games, their ridiculously cute robot sleeping bags, those sweet Gingiber reindeer pillows, and some mugs of steamed milk and pink cupcakes. After nap/quiet time, we had the girls come in to their little afternoon treat.
We played one of my favorite vintage Christmas albums (similar to this) on the record player, and had a blast playing tic tac toe (it's Vivi's favorite game when we go out to eat, so she was extra delighted with the larger than life plush version!), this adorable matching game as well as Candyland and my new favorite, Sneaky Snacky Squirrel.
I mean, how sweet are those pj's? Brigie calls them her "super mouse pajamas".
(my favorite monogrammed mugs!)
I really love The Land of Nod's toy offering. It is so delightfully unplugged, and really encourages the imagination. Not to mention it's all so beautiful, which makes it fun to just leave out and around the house! It's sweet, but not too much pink plastic!
I also love that gorgeous colorful garland (and that little pink radio is a favorite new vintage find; similar one can be found here).
Thank you so much to The Land of Nod for helping us have such a magical evening kicking off this sweet season!
