happy fall!
Happy fall! I have always loved looking at all the cute photos other families take at pumpkin patches (likely because of the amazing Mark's Melon Patch close to my hometown) and had it in my head this was something we had to do once there was a baby or two in tow. After looking at the calendar, we realized our free fall weekends are few and far between, and we were in need of a pumpkin for a small group get together tomorrow night. We drove back in from out of town this morning, and later had to do the usual Sunday afternoon grocery store routine, so Chip suggested we stop at one of the churches on the way to the store that sells pumpkins every fall. It certainly wasn't the pumpkin patch experience I had in mind, but we went and Chip snapped a few pictures. Vivi wouldn't look at the camera despite our best efforts, but she enjoyed riding around in the little wagon and touching all the pumpkins and, of course, trying to eat the stems. After looking at what Chip captured tonight, I have to admit that I am quickly learning the lesson that making memories doesn't always have to entail a perfect plan and a circled date on the calendar - it can be a sweet moment in between life's necessities.
