patio style challenge
with the home depot
Finally, we get to share the patio we've been working on! We are so excited to have it done and to be able to use it now that the weather is beginning to get warmer. It's going to be a great place to spend time with the girls. (Be sure to check out The Home Depot's blog for more photos and details!)
We didn't have a patio, so we decided to build one. (We have a deck, but it needs quite a bit of work, and it was more than we could tackle, but I'm glad to have a space that is yard-level to watch and play with the girls.) With the gracious help of my dad, we built a pergola, which is so perfect to define the space and provide a bit of extra shade. It's so perfect nestled under that dogwood, and I was extra thrilled that it bloomed the weekend we took the pictures!
I made some fun little plumb bob "macrame" hangings. I'll be posting some more details about how to make one next week!
To celebrate the patio being all done, we had a little patio party, with a sweet spread of fruit, scones, madeleines, and whipped cream. The girls loved it and had a blast enjoying eating at the coffee table. I bought those adorable vintage yellow chairs from Etsy, and they are the perfect spot for them to perch!
(Brigie's sweet little dress is by Tea collection, from here, and Vivi's is too, from here!)
My little side cart from Serena & Lily makes a perfect addition for serving food and providing extra storage. It's really easy to take it outside and bring it back in because it's not too big.
Vivi helped me with the pillows. I love how they turned out! I bought some white outdoor fabric, and we painted them together with hot pink paint and foam brushes. Aren't they sweet? She also helped me paint the top of the coffee table to give it a custom look and a little more color.
Those wind chimes are from Anthropologie (love all their garden stuff this year!); I just added some tassels for some more color. (Tassel DIY coming next week!)
My dad made the awesome triangle side tables (Check out The Home Depot's blog for a better picture). Would y'all like a more detailed DIY on those? I am crazy about them!
It looks really beautiful at night, too, and will be a great spot for at home date nights. It really feels like you are somewhere else entirely. We strung up lights across the top of the pergola, and I bought that vintage swag light to plug in for special occasions for a little extra ambiance. Thanks so much to The Home Depot for letting us participate, and for the beautiful patio set!
