A casual backyard dinner party

with Homespun Atlanta

My parents both had big birthdays this year, so my sister and I decided to throw a backyard summer supper to celebrate.  We figured it would be an easy and relaxing option, and it was so perfect.  We asked the talented team of Homespun to cater our mini event, and Jason and Jamie did a fantastic job of making everything special.

It's always nice to have a reason to pull out the wedding china, and we kept everything simple and unfussy.  We hung up my parents baby pictures (aren't the cute?) for a little extra fun.  By the way, this is a super simple and inexpensive way to display art.  We scanned the original photos, had them printed by a local digital printer at 11" x 14" and then staple gunned natural pieces of 3/4" flat trim on the top and bottom (you can find it an Home Depot - it's so inexpensive and sold by the foot!) and then tied suede cord on the top edges to hang it.

I can't say enough good things about the food.  We also had a little Valentine get together with some friends, so this is our second time using Homespun.  Jason creates a menu based on the best local seasonal options (and you can of course edit it due to dietary restrictions), and it's so fun to try new and different things.  They serve four courses (appetizers, a first course, second course, and then dessert) and time it so that it's a slow and enjoyable experience.  Dinner can last three hours or longer, which is such a wonderful way to dine!  It encourages conversation, and you are able to really enjoy everything so much more.

Just had to share, especially with those of you local to Atlanta!  It was also really great to use the beautiful pergola we just completed (with the help of my daddy!).  It's perfectly magical at night, and the lightning bugs were out in full effect making it a gorgeous summer evening.
