brigette's favorite things

seven months

baby's favorite thingsI'm sharing a few of Brigette's favorite things (and things to do!) today.  These items are the ones I find us to be using the most, and they make my days better!  Here are a few notes about some of them:

the ergo: I know just about everyone seems to love it, so this is nothing new, but I had a different carrier last time, and didn't really get the difference until I finally tried the ergo.  We also went through that little awkward phase where she was too big for the infant insert, but not quite big enough to go without it, and she wasn't loving it.  Now that she is a bit bigger, though, it's back to being great.  I love wearing her when we go run errands; it makes it much easier to have both hands free to get Vivi, and it's almost guaranteed she will fall asleep, so if we have to go out during her morning naptime, I don't worry about whether or not she will get her sleep.  It keeps her really happy.

the skiphop activity mat: I love this thing.  We have been using it since she was about three months old, and it's still a favorite.  It grows well with her, as it provides a great space for tummy time or something for her to look at above when she is on her back.  The animals are also detachable for chewing or grabbing, and it's super easy to move around or travel with.  I move it all over the house for her to roll around on, and I like knowing that it's clean and cushy.

chewy monkey and crushed ice in the mesh feeder: The chewy monkey is her favorite teething chew toy, and putting ice chips in a mesh feeder really soothes her gums now that she is working on some teeth.  This trick also worked well with Vivi (another thing that works well for us is wetting a baby washcloth and putting it in the freezer, and then letting her gnaw on it).

rocking seat: I also love this chair.  I had a different bouncer seat I used for Vivi, but I found that as she got bigger and gained weight, she quickly outgrew it.  This is more of a chair, so it last much longer (it has a much higher weight limit, so I don't worry about Vivi breaking it when she has to try it out on a regular basis).  I also use it for feeding Brigette her meals, since she is still working on sitting up well.  It's also easy to move around, and she often sits in it to watch Vivi and I cook dinner.  I let her roll around as much as I can, but when she is tired or fussy and it isn't quite bedtime/naptime, this chair keeps her pretty content while she plays with a little toy or observes Vivi do her thing.
