So we have made it through nearly two weeks with two – much thanks to both grandmothers!  My mom left last night, and I have to say, I’m a little terrified to be on my own.  Ok, maybe more than a little terrified . . .

Anyway, this song keeps coming up on one of my Pandora stations, and I can’t help but love the sweet chorus.  (Apparently John Prine’s lyrics speak to me?  By the way, please don’t be offended by some of the lyrics if you listen/look it up – it is a bit crass, but the chorus speaks to my heart!)  It is sort of how I feel right now – I’m a bit overwhelmed and on the edge of underwater, but somehow it makes the stolen moments I have with Chip that much sweeter, and I can’t wait for the day when we can go on a real date again and peacefully enjoy each other.  We snapped the photo above last weekend when we snuck out of the house after Vivi’s bedtime for a super quick grocery store run (because how do you go to the grocery store with two?  I don’t know yet!) while Nana looked after Brigette.  We picked up some Chick-fil-A and walked around the grocery store to get some much needed items – and some much needed time together.  It was the perfect date, and just what we needed . . . a reminder that in the midst of crazy, we’re going to end up on a rainbow.  And, after all, these are the moments we’ll look back and treasure – we’ll say “Look how young we are!  Wasn’t it an adventure when we added another to the family?  Look how dark my hair was!  We’re so in love – what a sweet time!  Oh, those sleepless nights, but oh, those sweet baby snuggles . . . how truly blessed we are.”

(Feel free to download the above print – a link to an 8″ x 10″ file is in the pink margin – a fun little Valentine treat.)

what to take to the hospitalI have posted on this before, but since it is top of mind for me right now, I thought I would re-visit it here, with a new download.  This would be a great gift for a friend – tie the list to a bag (or make your own, tailored to your friend’s needs!) and include a couple of items.  Also, be sure to check out my babyli.st (more info here - awesome way to make a baby registry that isn’t limited to one store!) where I added a few items we included in the nursery, as well as a few treats for post-delivery.  It really is nice to have a few things on hand, like a robe or comfy pants, that are new and ready to use during that in between time of not quite feeling like yourself yet, and it’s also uplifting for countless middle of the night and early morning feedings.  Feel free to download the 7″ x 10″ printouts from the margin to the right – just click the link and you will find a pdf you can download and print.

Any must have items you would add?  I know this can differ greatly according to the person, but these are the items I found to be helpful!

Recently, Vivi bit Chip while he was hugging her.  Actually, she has done it to him twice.  Then she did it to me early last week.  (If you are a playdate friend, please don’t be alarmed!!)  She is around other kids, and I have never seen nor gotten reports of this being an issue with them, but still, ever since it happened, I have been telling her to be “a lover, not a biter.”  It kind of adds some humor to the whole thing.  I thought it might be fun to put on a wall somewhere, so here is a fun download if you have a little biter on your hands, or just want to be a bit cheeky.  Click on the links in the margin to access an 8 x 10 pdf to download and print!

Just for fun, here are a few other thoughts:

(1) I have received a LOT of requests lately for shared room ideas (working on it!) and my friend Lesley just revealed the adorable room she put together for her sweet daughter Matilda to share with her baby sister who will arrive in November.  Be sure to check it out if you need some inspiration, or some encouragement!

(2) Love this post on HelloBee about maternity clothes.  Who knew there was such prettiness out there in maternity styles?

(3) If you like the script font I used above, you can find it here, thanks to the talented and endlessly creative Jenny of Hank + Hunt!

(4) I have an AWESOME giveaway coming up next week.  Want a hint?  Vivi has one of the same in her nursery . . . are you excited yet?

The other day as I was running a few errands with Vivi, I had my hands full (really, it was just her and my bag, but considering she is 25 pounds, her plus anything is a handful!) and somehow the buttons on my phone got pushed, and the song “You Can Call Me Papa” by Donovan Frankenreiter started playing.  I haven’t heard the song in forever, and never really thought much about the words behind it, but as I was carrying my little Peanut, I suddenly realized what he was saying.  I thought it was sweet – and a sentiment worth sharing with all of you.  I think one of my biggest fears after Vivi was born was that I had ruined Chip and me.  I know that may sound silly, but in a hormone and sleep deprived stupor, it made perfect sense.  It turns out that absolutely wasn’t the case at all, but print this out if you need a reminder, or if you are one of the fellas reading this blog (are there men reading my blog?  I have no idea.), put it in a pretty frame, and give it to your baby mama.  She will love it, I believe.  Or at least love the feeling behind it.  The size is 8 x 10, and if you click here, you can download the pdf.
